When it comes to battery bikes, it’s sometimes hard to see the wood for the trees, especially with regards to weight and price.

WEIGHT

The main difference between a battery bike and one that is non-powered is its weight, which you can expect to weigh around 10kg heavier. It is worth knowing that some powered bikes weigh more than this, such as hybrid models, the total weight of which usually comes in at around 20 -25kg. Folding battery bikes, on the other hand, tend to weigh approximately 16 – 18kg in total due to the fact that they have to account for ease of transportation, and so are made taking this into consideration.
Your bike’s weight is dependent on a number of factors, namely the manufacturer, model, battery type, motor, and class. Although your battery bike’s weight isn’t usually detected while riding it, it does become a noticeable aspect if you have to transport it somewhere that may require physically lifting it, so bear this in mind.

PRICE RANGE

The price of battery bikes can vary dramatically, especially when you take the frame material, motor position, and type of battery bike (i.e. folding, hybrid, e-cargo, etc) into account. As such, they can set you back from approximately anywhere between £300 to over £5000.
